Horn USA’s Supermini series type 109 insert is designed to provide an alternative for grooving and boring applications that fall within the upper working range of type 105 inserts and the lower working range of type 110 insert. The new type 109 inserts offer a working range of 6 mm in diameter and larger, whereas type 105 inserts can be used for bore holes measuring 0.2 mm and larger and type 110 inserts can be used for bore holes measuring 7 mm or larger.
The Supermini tool system offers more than 1,000 insert variations for boring, grooving, chamfering, threading, face grooving, finish-boring, face-turning and broaching of diameters as small as 0.2 mm (0.0008"). According to the company, only one standard tool holder is required for clamping all inserts of a type series. These holders are available with and without through-tool coolant capability and with various machine interfaces for both right-hand and left-hand rotation.

Inserts are available for steels, cast iron, nonferrous metals and exotic materials. Coated and non-coated carbide cutting inserts are available, as are cutting inserts with CBN and PCD features.
