Mitsui Seiki’s HU100-5X horizontal machining center (HMC) is designed to meet the high rigidity, stiffness and accuracy requirements of aerospace, power generation, refrigeration/compressor, die/mold and off-road equipment applications. The machine has XYZ travels of 1,500 × 1,200 × 1,200 mm (59.05" × 47.24" × 47.24"), and accommodates weights as high as 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs). The spindle generates 2,000 foot-pounds of torque and has an HSK 125A taper. Other features include a dual pallet changer, an automatic workpiece/fixture measurement and compensation system, a non-contact laser tool setting device, 3D tool compensation, dynamic feature offset and a FANUC 30iM control. The HMC's construction, 3D FEM design, hardened and ground steel box ways and hand-scraped castings result in high rigidity and accuracy.
