To prevent deterioration in chiller performance, Keller Products Inc. offers a line of bag filters that remove virtually all particles as fine as 1 micron from the fluid before it enters the chiller. The bag filters, rated for flows from 30 to 160 gallons per minute, have ¾" or 1 ½" NPT inlet and outlet fittings and are designed to be easily installed in-shop in the coolant line entering the chiller, the company says. The filter bags, available with retention efficiencies from 1 micron to 100 microns, have high solids holding capacity and can be changed in a few minutes without tools. Rated at 300 psig operating pressure, the bag filters can also be installed on the machine tool in the coolant or cutting oil distribution lines to prevent blockage in the spray nozzles and to prevent breakage of through-the-spindle tools.
