Kitamura’s Mycenter-HX800iL HMC is designed for heavy-duty, large-part precision machining. Its rigid construction and high accuracy make the machine well-suited for the automotive, aerospace, heavy-construction, oil-field and power-generation industries, the company says.

For oversized parts, the machine’s work envelope can accommodate work measuring 59.1" × 59.1" in diameter and length, respectively. It also features a 31.50" × 31.50" pallet; X-, Y- and Z-axis stroke of 55" × 49.21" × 52.16"; clamping power of 30,710 lbs; and a table-load capacity of 3,300 lbs.

Constructed with Meehanite cast iron, the HMC optimizes damping capacity while maintaining accuracies of ±0.000079", full stroke, and repeatability of ±0.000039". Solid box guideways combine with twin ballscrew and dual feedback technology to deliver 1,969-ipm feed rates.

A 35-hp, 12,000-rpm, two-step geared, dual-contact spindle delivers 280.3 foot-pounds of torque. An optional 8,000-rpm, high-torque spindle is available with a maximum torque of 699.3 foot-pounds.

The HMC features a standard 50-tool fixed port ATC system with a 3-sec tool-change time. As many as 250 tools can be added in the field for increased flexibility in changing from one job to the next.
