Kitamura Machinery adds the Mycenter-HX500G horizontal machining center (HMC) to its G-Series line for medium- to large-sized parts that require flexible cutting capabilities. The HMC is available in 40- or 50-taper spindle configurations. The 40-taper, 20,000-rpm, four-step geared, dual-contact spindle suits high-end, fine-finish cutting requirements. The 50-taper, 12,000-rpm spindle offers 432.2 foot-pounds of torque for heavy-duty cuts and exotic materials. The geared spindle design promotes energy conservation and lower operational costs, the company says. Optional HSK spindle designs are also available.
The HMC provides hand-scraped, solid boxway construction and achieves 2,362-ipm rapid feed rates. It accommodates workpieces as large as 31.5" in diameter and 43.3" in height. Twin ballscrews and motors in the X and Y axes with linear scale feedback on all axes promote stability and provide accuracies of ±0.000079" (full stroke) with repeatability of ±0.000039". The machine features an expandable, two-station automatic pallet changer coupled with full 360-degree, fourth-axis capability. Its Arumatik-Mi controller enables smooth, fast machining of complex workpieces with the potential for fifth-axis simultaneous machining on both pallets, the company says. A 50-tool, fixed-pot automatic tool changer is standard and can be upgraded to hold 200 tools.
