The H 400 CNC hobbing machine from Star SU can run small lots or mass produce straight and helical gears; crowned and tapered gears; worm gears; chain sprockets; toothed belt discs; cluster gears; and special profiles. It can use standard hob or form milling technology, ranging from dry or wet machining with high-capacity HSS or carbide tools to skive hobbing of heat-treated gears. The machine is equipped with a motorized hob head, six CNC axes, an aligning probe, a Siemens control and MAG Modul dialogue software (metric or inches). It can hob up to 400 mm diameter gears and has a maximum hob diameter of 175 mm.
