The PBM-135 from Mighty Viper from Mighty USA is a precision CNC horizontal boring and milling machine featuring a built-in, heavy-duty rotary table. It combines precision movement, position and repeatability accuracy with cutting capability for industries including energy, oil field, aerospace and machinery manufacturing.
The rotary table positioning and repeatability accuracy is ±10 arcseconds. A duplex gear transmission is said to provide exact and even movement, yielding zero-backlash table rotation. The table surface measures 63" × 71.87" with a maximum table load of 29,000 lbs.
The rigid spindle is 5.11" in diameter and has a W axis that provides 28" of horizontal travel. The W axis has two linear ways for greater accuracy during horizontal movement. According to the company, the machine’s W/Y movement automatically compensates for mechanical sagging on the quill.
The gear-driven spindle has a four-step speed change, and provides maximum torque of 4,817 foot-pounds. The spindle motor provides 50 hp at 2,500 rpm. A variety of spindle heads are available, including a universal head, a 90-degree head, a 90-degree extension head and quill support.
The machine has oversized box ways with quadrupled-delta construction for greater stability during cutting. The wide base and column structure provides structural rigidity and damping capability. The machine features an extra large cooling system for all spindle, cartridge, gearbox and hydraulic devices. The arm type ATC offers a range of stand-alone tool storage options with 60-, 90- or 160-piece tool magazines.
