The Vesta VMC series, which includes both boxed and roller guideway models, is designed with high rpm and heavy torque variations. The 850B and 1050B are 50-taper machines. The 850B has X, Y and Z travels of 34," 24"and 24." The 1050B has X, Y and Z travels of 42," 24" and 24." According to the company, slide surfaces on all axes are designed to help ensure low friction, precise positioning, and repeatable accuracy. Standard spindle speeds are as high as 10,000 rpm (gear driven). Workpieces weighing as much as 2,200 lbs can be accommodated. Powered by a 25-hp main spindle motor, the spindle produces low-end torque as well as the necessary speed for high speed machining, the company says.
           
The 660 and 1000 models are 40-taper roller guideway machines. The 660 has X, Y and Z travels of 26,"17" and 16." The 1000 model has X, Y and Z travels of 40," 22" and 17" The direct-drive, 15-hp Fanuc spindle motor minimizes power loss, decreases vibration and increase cutting efficiency, the company says. A 20-hp spindle is available as an option. All models have coolant delivered through the spindle.
 
The VMC 610D is a production machining center. It features a 20-hp brushless direct-drive, AC spindle motor. The spindle motor is mounted to the spindle with a direct drive coupling. A heat absorption jacket inside the spindle removes the heat generated in cutting. It has a pallet index time of six seconds and rapid traverse rates as high as 945 ipm.
