Developed to offer premium performance at an affordable price, the F650VM is the latest addition to Hyundai WIA’s Value Master range of CNC vertical machining centers. It offers X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 51.2" × 26.4" × 25", and rapid traverse is 1,418 ipm (36 m/min.) in the X and Y axes, and 1,182 ipm (30 m/min.) in the Z axis.
The bed, column and saddle of all Value Master series machines are designed using finite element analysis to ensure powerful cutting and agility, and are composed of meehanite cast iron to minimize deformation when performing heavy-duty cuts. The rigid bed is designed to absorb vibration for stable machining.
All axes are driven by high-precision double-nut ballscrews for improved positioning and repeatability with virtually no thermal growth during machining. All ballscrews are connected directly to the servomotors without gears or belts, eliminating backlash. Rapid high-speed axis movement is achieved by the use of linear motion guideways in all three axes, which reduces non-cutting time and decreases machining time for greater productivity.
The F650VM also includes a 30-tool, side-mount, swing-arm toolchanger that offers tool-to-tool change time of 1.5 sec. A shutter system separates the toolchanger and magazine, and closes during machining to keep them clear of chips and fluids. A 25-hp, 10,000-rpm Big Plus spindle provides dual contact between the spindle face and the flange face of the toolholder, increasing tool rigidity and productivity, and reducing runout. Ultra-precision, angular bearings provide high-speed acceleration/deceleration for smooth machining at high rpms, and the main spindle is said to deliver minimal noise and vibration, even at the highest cutting speeds, for stable machining and minimal thermal transmission. Through-spindle coolant keeps chip flow clear of the cutting surface, and also helps to increase tool life and decrease cycle time.
The VMC also features a FANUC i-Series CNC control with a 10.4" color LCD display.
