Improved Depressed Center Wheels

Norton has expanded its line of depressed center wheels for right-angle grinding to include a large selection of sizes, thicknesses, performance levels and specialty products.   The Charger Plus and Gemini lines include INOX contaminant-free wheels, which contain less than 0.01-percent iron, sulfur and chlorine for rust- and corrosion-free results that prevent stainless steel contamination.

Charger Plus is suited for steel, stainless steel and other ferrous metals. It features a high ratio of zirconia alumina blended with aluminum oxide to provide three times the life of standard aluminum oxide wheels, the company says. Also designed for steel and ferrous metals, Gemini features quality aluminum oxide for consistent performance.

The NorZon Plus wheels feature patented SG ceramic alumina grain and an advanced bonding system that provides twice the cut rate and as much as 10 times greater wheel life compared to aluminum oxide wheels, the company says. The depressed center wheels also feature foundry-raised hubs, which are designed for grinding in severe applications and stock removal needs.

The depressed center wheels are available in diameters ranging from 2" to 9"; thicknesses ranging from 0.040" to 0.250"; stock removal grit ranges from 24 to 46; blending and finishing grit sizes of 60, 80, 120; and configuration types 27, 28 and 29.
