The T-TINOX series of CVD-coated insert grades are engineered for turning stainless steel. The copper-colored coating resists material build-up on the cutting edge while the T-Turn+ technology provides a smooth, stable cutting edge, the company says.
The series consists of three grades: The TT9215 offers high wear and chipping resistance and is designed for high speed and continuous cutting in stainless steel. The TT9225 is designed for general-purpose stainless steel applications, providing a balance of wear- and fracture-resistance. The TT9235 provides both fracture resistance and toughness and is designed for interrupted cutting in stainless steel at low cutting speeds.
Can Additive Manufacturing Increase Milling Feed Rates?
With PCD tooling, yes it can. The diamond cutting edges demand a large number flutes to realize their full effectiveness. Traditional methods for making cutter bodies limit the number of flutes, but 3D printing is delivering tools with higher flute density and other enhancements as well.
