Seco Tools offers the Thread Chaser, an insert designed to produce high-performance threads in a single pass. The inserts incorporate multi-tooth patterns to enable push and pull threading of OD and ID features with one or two passes. The precise thread patterns are also said to generate consistent thread pitches. Through-coolant holes and chip formers direct high-pressure coolant to the cutting edge to optimize chip formation, provide efficient chip evacuation and extend tool life. The inserts are well-suited to applications such as pipes and couplings for the oil and gas industries.
The company will also feature its Square T4-08 shoulder mill for cast iron and steel machining applications. According to the company, the shoulder mill’s pocket seats combined with multi-edge inserts optimize cutting stability and enable cutting clean, 90-degree walls. Inserts mount tangentially in the mill so that cutting forces impact the thickest parts of the inserts, providing smooth cutting action and enabling increased depths of cuts. A variety of insert grades and geometries are available, as well as cylindrical, Weldon, Arbor and Seco's Combimaster mounting types.
Also on display will be the Steadyline range of vibration-damping milling toolholders, including turning and boring bars. The toolholders are designed to deliver high metal-removal rates, generate smooth, chatter-free workpiece surfaces and increase tool life while reducing stress on machine tools. The product range includes bars for 6 × D, 8 × D and 10 × D.
