DiPaolo Machine Tools offers Juaristi's Th5 series of large horizontal machining centers (HMCs) that can be equipped with a variety of automatically changeable heads. These include a five-axis continuous head with speeds of 6,000 to 12,000 rpm; a 6,000-rpm universal milling head with 0.001 × 0.001-degree increments; a 5.1" or 5.9" diameter boring spindle; or a horizontal fixed spindle. The series features XYZ travels ranging from 78.7" × 59.1" × 59.1" to 157" × 98.4" × 98.4". Machines can accommodate two, four or more pallets in sizes of either 57" × 63" or 78.7" × 98.4" with a 12-ton load capacity.
Linear guideways provide effective dynamics with a rapid feed rate of 1,575 ipm and acceleration of 3 m/sec.2. A symmetrical column headstock and four vertical guideways are said to ensure rigidity as well as thermal and mechanical accuracy. A chain-type automatic tool changer with 160-tool capacity and 6-sec. change time is available, as well as a robotized matrix-type ATC with 400-tool capacity.
The machines feature a wraparound design that integrates the enclosure with the bed and chip conveyors, enabling complete chip and coolant collection without polluting the shop floor. Also included are automatic doors for pallet loading/unloading and coolant jets for roof and workpiece washing. Air, oil mist and fume aspiration systems can be installed to further maintain a clean shopfloor environment and good visibility.
