600 UK, parent company of Harrison Lathe, has announced the expansion of Harrison's Alpha XS lathe series with the heavy-duty 1660XS and 1760XS models designed to meet demands for accurate, efficient and economic turning of large-diameter workpieces. The 1660XS and 1760XS provide spindle speeds of 2,000 and 1,400 rpm respectively. Both models use 18.5-kW motors with 105-mm spindle bores (the 1760XS has an optional bore of 155 mm). Cast iron construction provides maximum machine stability and can be specified with a center distance between 1.5 and 4.0 m.
The lathes are fitted with the same FANUC 0iTD/Harrison Alpha control system as the rest of the series. This control offers customers flexibility, enabling four different ways to work, from manual turning to full CNC production incorporating Harrison’s Alpha System, which is said to be simple and intuitive.
