Fagor Automation will exhibit its range of linear encoders capable of nanometer resolution, consisting of the G, S and SV series extrusion platforms. The encoders suit applications with precision grinders and EDMs, as well as metrology applications, because of the ability to take nanometric measurements without electronic interpolation. Position and speed control result in an improved part surface finish and smoother machine axis positioning, promoting extended machine life. The encoder's acute resolution can also benefit high-speed linear motors by improving motor positioning accuracy, repeatability and smoothness.
The full-sized G series extrusion is designed to withstand harsh environments. The S and SV series utilize a more compact extrusion enabling fitment with limited-space applications. The G and SV series encoders incorporate the company's TDMS (Thermal Determined Mounting System) that minimizes error deflection by controlling the expansion and contraction of the scale. The positioning errors originating from machine mechanics such as thermal behavior, pitch error and backlash are minimized because the encoder mounts directly to the machine surface and the guide ways, sending real machine movement positional data to the CNC. Encoders are available with travels as long as 3 m.
All of the company's encoders undergo a final accuracy check in a climate-controlled chamber using a laser interferometer. The printed result of each test accompanies every encoder.
