This level of precision is said to allow the use of a live center for applications where a dead center is normally required. The design combines a high-precision, tapered roller bearing with an outer bearing race formed by the center body. This allows for maximum dimensional compactness while providing for a greater revolving point diameter. According to the company, the tapered bearing system eliminates the need for radial or thrust bearings. It is also said to eliminate adjustment issues. Standard tapers are available from Morse taper No. 1 to No. 5 and special application design inquiries are welcome.
