Machining Centers Offer 30-Taper Benefits
Knuth USA says its CNC RapiDrill 500 and RapiMill 700 machining centers offer quick acceleration/deceleration rates and reduced cutting time as a result of BT 30-taper V-flange cutting tools. Other potential machine benefits include reduced tooling and maintenance costs.
Between the two machining centers, tasks ranging from drilling, tapping, light milling of small-size parts and precision milling of larger parts can be performed. According to the company, high speed spindles of up to 15,000 rpm enable fast material removal and good surface finishes. A carousel or turret-style toolchanger with a minimal number of moving parts is said to promote reliability, while permitting tool changes as fast as 2.3 seconds.
An 11.75" × 30.25" table, Fanuc or Siemens controls, rigid-tapping and a chip conveyor complete these machines.
