The company introduces two machining centers, the B 300 and the C 50 U. Available in both three- and five-axis configurations, the B 300 incorporates select elements of the company’s C series machining centers, including gantry design for fast, precise movement; a trunnion table; and a mineral casting base. It features XYZ travels of 800 × 600 × 500 mm; a 15,000-rpm spindle powered by a 19-kW drive; and a 30-position tool magazine that accommodates both SK 40 and HSK A 63 tooling. Tool change is by direct pick-up, and chip-to-chip time is approximately 6 seconds. The three-axis version features a rigid clamping table measuring 1,000 × 560 mm, with a 1,500-kg capacity. The five-axis version uses an NC swiveling rotary table with a 280-mm diameter and a 250-kg maximum load. The control is a pendant-mounted Heidenhain iTNC 530, and a limited range of options is available.
Also on display is the C 50 U, the largest member of the C series. Designed for complex machining of large, heavy parts, it features X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 1,000 × 1,100 × 750 mm and can accommodate a workpiece weight of 2,000 kg. Suited for the full simultaneous five-axis and/or five-sided machining of large automotive parts, aircraft components or molds, the maximum part dimension is a diameter of 1,000 mm and a height of 810 mm. Further capabilities include crane loading with door opening to 1,250 mm; a space-saving, pick-up magazine integrated into the base unit; three guideways with a single guideshoe for force balance; and work platforms along the entire machine front and at magazine load station.
Also available are the C 30 U and C 40 U machining centers. Using the design features common to the C Series platform, including a vibration-damping cast mineral base, modified gantry design and a tilting trunnion table, the C 30 U features XYZ travels of 650 × 600 × 500 mm, while the larger C 40 U offers XYZ travels of 850 × 700 × 500 mm.
