Carbinite metal coating on the inside of collets is designed to eliminate heavy turning slippage. This technology uses electrofusion to evenly apply a textured carbide coating to steel and other metal surfaces. With this increased workholding strength, production speeds are said to increase while tool breakage downtime caused by part slippage is said to be eliminated.

With this increased workholding strength, production speeds are said to increase while tool breakage downtime caused by part slippage is said to be eliminated.

Carbinite can be applied to lathe collets, workholding fixtures, bar-feed fingers and many other tools and parts. It can be applied on virtually any size steel surface in several grades, leaving various textures without sacrificing concentricity or affecting the heat treated condition of the base metal. Maximum 3-day turnaround is guaranteed, and on-site coating is available, the company says.
