Micro-Drive Improves Energy Efficiency

ABB’s ACS20 micro-drive is compatible with augers, mixers, pumps, fans and conveyors. According to the company, it can replace motor starters to increase energy efficiency, reduce mechanical stresses and improve process control. Its compact and uniform dimensions enable multiple drive and cabinet installations to save space.

Designed to simplify machine control, the drive offers an IP20 panel-mounted chassis with feed-through wiring for environmental protection. It is available in 1- to 115-V in and 3- to 230-V out, as well as 600-V in/out. An IP66/UL Type 4× drive is also available for demanding conditions such as wash-down applications with on-machine mounting. The IP66/NEMA 4× drive is constructed of materials that prevent the drive from trapping bacteria, enabling its use in harsh environments containing dust, moisture and chemicals. An integrated keypad provides drive commissioning and maintenance, and the sealed ABS enclosed and corrosion-resistant heat sink make it well-suited for wash-down applications. The drive also is equipped with a V/Hz control with variable- or constant-torque V/Hz profiles and an embedded Modbus-RTU communication interface for monitoring.
