Seco-Carboloy has added fixed-pocket and adjustable cutters to its range of 335.18 indexable insert disc mills. These tools can be employed when dealing with difficult materials or for extended reach applications. Available in a range of grades, the products are suitable for machining a spectrum of materials.
Free cutting (positive geometry) LNKT and LNKW inserts and round 6-mm and 8-mm RD and RP styles are also included in the expanded line. These have corner radii from 0.015" to 0.122" for use in disc milling applications. In addition, a range of grades is available to work with steel, stainless steel and cast iron. The cutter bodies feature cassettes for precision and depth-of-cut machining from 0.390" to 5.90". The cutters range in size from 4" to 10" inches and are available with and without hub.
Editor PickCan Additive Manufacturing Increase Milling Feed Rates?
With PCD tooling, yes it can. The diamond cutting edges demand a large number flutes to realize their full effectiveness. Traditional methods for making cutter bodies limit the number of flutes, but 3D printing is delivering tools with higher flute density and other enhancements as well.
