Lucifer Furnaces’ 86AM-K24 atmosphere furnace is a dual-chamber unit for workpieces requiring a nitrogen atmosphere. The high-temperature upper chamber heats to 2,050°F, while the lower chamber tempering oven heats to 1,600°F. The upper chamber features an RA330 corrugated alloy muffle fully supported on silicon carbide hearth plates for heat treating under atmosphere. Its heating elements are located on side walls and under the muffle for uniform heating. The lower chamber features a recirculating fan for convection heating and uniform temperature. A heat slinger mounted on the fan shaft prevents overheating of the fan bearings. Side-wall heating elements in easy-to-replace holders are mounted outside an alloy line for uniform recirculation of heat. Both chambers measure 12" × 12" × 24". Temperatures are controlled by separate Honeywell UDC2500 microprocessor-based programmable temperature controllers, and an over-temperature safety system guards against potential meltdown.
