Designed for medical device manufacturers, the Focus Specialist optical comparator features telecentric optics that yield clear, undistorted upright and reversed images on a viewing screen measuring 16" (406 mm) in diameter. Its dedicated 5× magnification lens enables users to view a full 3.2" of an inspected part at once. Additionally, the comparator incorporates eCAD, which enables a CAD model to present a virtual chart that moves with the part for semi-automatic inspection, virtually eliminating the need for traditional charts. According to the company, combining a dedicated 5× lens with eCAD virtual charts makes the device well-suited for inspecting a wide array of medical parts.
For illumination, the comparator uses TruLight LEDs. Offering variable intensities, these LEDs are bright and provide years of consistent performance while consuming less energy than traditional tungsten illumination, the company says. For stability, the machine uses a mineral cast base. The motorized, nickel-plated worktable allows for automatic programmed operation and offers X- and Y-axis travels of 15" × 6" (380 × 150 mm), with extended X-axis travel of 18" (450 mm) available as an option. Precision XY scale resolution is 0.00004" (1 µm). The system also includes the company’s Q-Check multifunction digital readout, which offers high-contrast, dual-backlit, 2-line LCD displays that show X and Y positions as well as measurement results.
