The UNS-2 universal NC grinding machine from Mello in Brazil is an option for shops looking for a machine with capabilities that fall between full CNC and conventional models. The machine offers programmable pre-roughing, roughing, finishing and spark-out strokes as well as 12 independent programmable dressing wheel cycles with automatic compensation for wheel wear. Its user-friendly PLC with LCD screen has the capability to store as many as 100 parts programs. The machine provides wheelhead in-feed resolution of 0.0001". The UNS-2/1000 version offers 1,000 mm length between centers and 150 mm height of centers over the table.
