Sinterline PA6 powder from Solvay Engineering Plastics’ Rhodia business unit is formulated to provide parts made through selective laser sintering (SLS) with a thermal resistance and stiffness similar to those injection-molded in polyamide 6. The process is said to be well-suited for rapid prototyping and/or small series production for automotive parts.

Solution F/E2R, a French company that specializes in engineering and rapid prototyping for recreational vehicles and aerospace applications, has manufactured parts such as air-intake ducts and brake fluid tanks using Sinterline PA6 powder, Rhodia says. Other parts are being developed to equip the cockpit of a solar-powered plane for which Solvay is a main partner.
