Southwestern Industries will exhibit its Trak 2OP portable machining center designed for secondary machining operations. The machine streamlines workflow by quickly bringing an additional spindle to an operator and reduces overall cycle and throughput as well as part scheduling and planning times. The portable machining center is said to optimize labor time, since an operator can simultaneously run the secondary machine during the primary operation cycle.
The machining center has a 2.5 × 4-ft. footprint and contains an 8-station automatic toolchanger. The ProtoTrak CNC offers G-code compatibility as well as conversational language programming, easing operation and training. Programs can be generated either at the machine or remotely to perform tasks normally associated with secondary operations.
