SNK's HGM-2500 high-rail-gantry profiler features a redesigned 20,000-rpm, high-horsepower spindle providing stable, accurate five-axis machining of large-sized components, the company says. This capability suits applications in the aerospace and transportation industries. The machine is said to require less floor space than comparable table-type machines while still offering a distance between columns of 3,800 mm (150").
For minimized cycle times and higher productivity, the machine offers feed rates of 60 m/min. on the X and Y axes, 30 m/min. on the Z axis and 7,200 degrees/min. on the B and C axes. The rigid, bridge-type construction supports the gantry, which travels on fixed side rails for improved stability, accuracy and workpiece maneuverability.
Other features include a FANUC 3li Model B5 CNC along with the company's DCS-V Aero Edition software package, an 80-tool capacity automatic tool changer, chip conveyor, splash guard and roof cover.
