Norton Quantum X creepfeed wheels feature three technologies for free-cutting. The Norton technologies that comprise the wheels include a pore-induced construction, ceramic abrasive and a strong bond from the company.
The wheels are especially useful for a variety of applications, ranging from low to medium and high-force on heat sensitive, hard-to-grind Inconel, titanium and aerospace alloys, the company says. These new creepfeed wheels excel on large areas of contact applications and offer exceptional form and corner-holding, the company says.
Quantum X wheels are designed to reduce grinding cycle times by as much as 50 percent while using more than 20 percent less power.
The creepfeed wheels are available in blank stock in a type 01 straight wheel in six sizes, ranging from 16” × 1” × 5” (D × T × H) to 20” × 5” × 8” (D × T × H). Quantum X unfinished blank stock wheels are also available in various abrasives and grit sizes and can be quickly customized to meet a user’s dimensional requirements.
These wheels are especially useful for aerospace, automotive and energy applications, among others.
When Grinding Is Like Turning
This shop leverages a high-speed peel-grinding process that resembles turning to effectively grind challenging materials such as carbide. Inherently low grinding forces mean high material-removal rates are possible.
