The Quik Change Tooling line consists of eleven tool families for boring, grooving, face grooving, profiling and thread forming applications. A range of inch and metric sizes are available in a variety of materials. Coated and uncoated tools are available as standard.
The system is designed so that a tool can be changed in 30 seconds or less, with repeatability of ±0.0005", thus eliminating repeated presetting and “touching off.” According to the company, this accuracy is achieved by a special two-point locking system.
Can Additive Manufacturing Increase Milling Feed Rates?
With PCD tooling, yes it can. The diamond cutting edges demand a large number flutes to realize their full effectiveness. Traditional methods for making cutter bodies limit the number of flutes, but 3D printing is delivering tools with higher flute density and other enhancements as well.
