The Rebel V-65 Servo is a compact, short bar loader that features a 5- to 65-mm diameter capacity range for feeding spindle length round, square, hexagonal and shaped barstock into CNC lathes. With a magazine capacity enabling for long operation, the machine is designed with a small footprint. According to the company, while processing the bar, there is no contact between the barstock and the loading magazine, so high speed machining is possible with the use of a properly sized lathe spindle liner.
The loading storage capacity is 25.6" (650-mm) deep. Bars are loaded from the rear of the bar feeder. The inclination of the storage table can be adjusted to give the machine a “soft-load“ effect. The bars are then lowered into the feeding channel by urethane guides. Barstock with lengths ranging to 48" (1,200 mm) can be loaded by the machine. The maximum bar length is determined by the spindle length of the lathe and the chucking package. The barstock is loaded into the main spindle of the lathe by a linear feed mechanism with a servo and encoder. This enables for the feeding of the barstock into position with the use of a fixed bar stop or accurate position, the company says. An adjustment mechanism sets the height for the lathe’s centerline, according to the bar’s diameter, for loading into the spindle liner. The machine comes equipped with three pusher rods to cover the range of diameters.
The machine features a Mitsubishi PLC controller and a pushbutton screen interface with a LCD display. Feed force is set by the controller after the bar diameter is entered into the touchscreen control. The display and operation station includes all needed information to enable setting and productive operation of the loading process. The operator enters the bar diameter and part length, the machine adjusts the parameters for loading, feedout, and bar change. It also includes a shaft loading option as well as a subspindle “feed-on-the-fly” option with a “return and wait” pusher feature. The machine can store as many as 20 standard setup parameters. The remote control pendant provides control and adjustment capabilities from the lathe area.
Spindle liner change-over is accomplished by the open architecture design of the top cover. An Axial Track mechanism configured for X-axis movement enables maintenance access to the back of the lathe spindle.
