At EMO in Hall 4, Booth D 65, Mikron will feature a newly conceived small milling cutter—the CrazyMill Cool, that the company states improves cutting speeds, feeds, performance, tool life und surface quality. The cutters feature new carbide, geometry, coating and coolant through the shank, which is responsible for a perfect cooling at the cutting edges and a good chip evacuation out of the machining zone, the company notes.
The cutters are available in the following versions: cylindrical, small cutters in diameter of 0.3mm to 4mm (0.02” to 0.16”) are at disposal for different maximum depths (from 1.5 to 5 x D). Through coolant capability is in the diameters from 0.3 mm to 4mm (0.02” to 0.15”). Slot or pocket milling into solid material, and contour milling are its strengths. The tool combines roughing and finishing to yield high efficiency, long tool life and a much better surface quality, the company adds.
