Mastercam X4 from CNC Software expands machining flexibility and increases emphasis on speed and automation with a suite of new toolpaths, multi-threading ability and other enhancements.
Dynamic machining creates an active toolpath that delivers more consistent cutting conditions and allows use of the entire tool flute length, saving both time and money, the company says. This machining technique’s flexible retract option keeps the tool down in smaller parts, while its rapid retract option is useful for larger parts.
Mastercam Mill’s multi-threading support divides complex tasks in a multi-core computer for faster processing. When used in a single-core environment, multi-threading allows users to multitask, to prioritize both running and pending tasks and to monitor toolpath calculation progress.
Mastercam for SolidWorks is a fully integrated CAM system that runs in SolidWorks. SolidWorks users can program their parts directly within SolidWorks using Mastercam’s toolpaths and machining strategies. The CAM system features a suite of cutting strategies, including feature-based machining and 3D high speed machining (HSM) toolpaths. HSM increases tool life and precision cutting by creating smooth cuts that eliminate sharp moves, the company says. The CAM system also delivers a powerful set of automated cleanup toolpaths to get parts off the machine faster and with less handwork, the company says.
Other X4 software features include a 3D toolpath refiner for better finish; feature-based machining drill and mill enhancements; tree-style dialog boxes for 2D toolpaths; circle five-axis toolpath; and Agie support.
