SmartCAMcnc offers the field test release of SmartCAM V17.0, which features advanced milling improvements, such as a Z-level roughing process, and enhancements to the solid pocketing process. Core enhancements to the entire software suite include Web-format report generation, improved graphics printing and the capability to store the mask and visibility state with named views. The product family is suited for CNC milling, turning, fabricating and wire EDM applications.

The update is said to benefit milling users working with both prismatic and freeform solid models. The Z-level roughing process incorporates features from V16’s Solid Pocket process, such as critical depth processing, multiple start points and more. It enables roughing strategies to be applied to virtually any part configuration consisting of cores, cavities and open pockets and profiles. The roughing process has been added to SmartCAM Advanced Milling, Advanced Turning and FreeForm machining applications.

An HTML-based report generator improves the flexibility and quality of job and shopfloor documentation. The Web report generator includes tool and process step information as well as job header and part graphic images.
