Swiss-Type Lathe Offers Modular Flexibility

New Product Announcements From: 6/2/2008 Modern Machine Shop

The SS32 Swiss-type lathe features a flexible, modular tooling arrangement, with driven tools on both the main and subspindle. This allows users to machine complex components in a single setup, the company says. The machine’s standard main spindle configuration includes seven turning tools, five cross-rotary tools and five ID tools. The standard subspindle setup includes three ID stations and three face drills as well as accommodation for two cross-rotary drills. Also, an adjustable face tool attachment enables thread whirling, polygon turning and angular face drilling operations. Specifications include 12.6" (320 mm) of Z-1 stroke and 8,000 rpm for the main and subspindles.
