Precision Components offers a line of tap drivers and pipe tap drivers. The Bt-30 and Bt-40, along with Cat-40 and Cat-50, range from a #0 tap to a 1" tap. Pipe tap drivers range from a 1/16 to a 1/2 pipe tap. Ridged tap drivers are designed for machining centers with synchronized tapping control, which allows for easy clearance of fixtures, clamps, superspacers and other causes of interference, while also allowing coolant to be delivered directly to the tap, the company says. Having no moving parts, it has virtually eliminated the need for bushings and collets associated with most tapping systems.
The company has also designed a tap lock holding technique that allows the tap to be placed in the end of the holder using three set screws, two holding on to the square and one holding on the flat, which allows for a less than 0.0005 TIR.
