Methods Machine Tools introduces the Nakamura-Tome NTY3-250 turn-mill. Each of the machine’s three turrets features a Y-axis of 4.4" (112 mm) can accommodate 12 driven or 24 stationary tools, for a maximum of 72 total tools.  According to the company, this tool capacity can reduce downtime by limiting the need for tool change-overs.

X- and Z-axis speeds of are 1,181 ipm and 1,574 ipm, respectively, and the machine weighs 31,807 lbs to ensure stable performance at these speeds. The 47.24" (1,200 mm) distance between spindles is sufficient to limit tooling interference during multitasking operations that involve multiple tools in the cut simultaneously. The machine also features a 60-degree slant bed for easy access to work and tooling. It offers a maximum turning diameter of 8.86" (225 mm), maximum turning length of 35.65" (905.5 mm) and a bar capacity of 2.5" (65 mm).

The machine features a 19" high-resolution, touchscreen LCD panel. The Nakamura-Tome Intelligent Programming System (NT-IPS) is a PC-based control that is built into the machine. It works in conjunction with the Fanuc 31i-B controller. New standard functions include a spindle speed override switch, a program number search, C-axis synchronization and helical interpolation. The machine also comes standard with CAMplete TruePath turn-mill software, an integrated suite of G-code editing, optimization, analysis and verification tools.
