The Jet-Stream through-coolant system is designed for both turning and threading applications and is available in inch and metric geometries. The system controls coolant volume and pressure with the through-coolant Dor-lock clamp and interchangeable coolant nozzles. The controlled coolant stream is designed to lubricate the cutting edge of the insert, thereby reducing the coefficient of friction and preventing the chips from adhering to the insert. According to the company, the physical combination of high velocity and high pressure forces the hot chips away from the cutting edge of the insert. As a result, the insert is likely to operate at a more consistent, lower temperature with a clean and undamaged cutting edge. Higher surface speeds can be achieved with a better surface finish as well as closer working tolerances and higher machine performance, the company says.
