story in the field of coated EDM wires. Tests have shown that cutting
rates increase enormously by using coated electrodes of the topas®
family. With topas® plus X, bedra is once again setting the benchmark.
The EDM wire was especially designed for the existing X technology on Charmilles machines and allows you to attain cutting speeds which are up to 35 percent faster compared to plain wire. This enormous increase in performance will be achieved even under poor flushing conditions. topas® plus X is applicable immediately on all Charmilles machines using the existing cutting technology; new parameter settings are not necessary. As with all the other electrodes of the topas® family, topas® plus X offers high reliability due to its excellent resistance to wire breaks. The same applies to cutting critical contours and variable cutting heights. Regarding profitability, topas® plus X is the uncompromising alternative to conventional brass wire. Furthermore, topas® plus X allows you to tap the full potential of modern generators and thus measurably reduce processing times. The crucial importance of using the optimal EDM wire can be illustrated by taking an example from the mould making of a large German plastic profile manufacturer: by only using a high performance wire from the topas® plus family, the required increase in cutting rates could be realised (as compared to brass wire), and as a result, the processing time of a work piece was reduced from 29 to 24 hours.
