Two-In-One Machine Dedicated to the PCD Market

Walter’s Helitronic Power Diamond machine is based on a two-in-one concept. It performs both grinding and eroding operations, making it well-suited for eroding rotationally symmetrical PCD and CBN tools or grinding HM/HSS tools, the company says. The machine is designed to provide increased stock removal ans surface finish down to Ra 4 µin. (0.1 µm).

Benefits are said to include entrance into the PCD market without dedicating a machine to it. The machine features a 3D gantry and cast iron base. Tool studio software is designed to provide ease of use and increased flexibility, and the Automatic Smart probe measures and positions the cutting edge and compensates for any skew or bow in the PCD insert. Autoloaders are available as an option for 20 tools to more than 1,000, the company says. A robot handles as many as 3,500 tools.
