LMT Onsrud LP offers a line of cutting tools to undercut the honeycomb core for potted fasteners. The tools featured in the 34-100 series are designed to eliminate the inconsistencies from holes produced in aircraft interior panels to mount potted, glued-in fasteners.
According to the company, these standardized tools produce accurate holes to undercut a “friction fit” for the fasteners, enabling optimal adhesive fill. These tools accommodate the CNC processing of the holes in the same holding as other machines. In aluminum panels an entry hole is required.
The series is offered in the four most common fastener sizes and in three different cut lengths. The cut lengths support one-pass machining, and the tools are coated for extended tool life, the company says.
