Beaumont Machine sets a new and improved standard in Breakthrough Detection.
Beaumont Machine, an EDM manufacturer in Milford, Ohio, is introducing a new and improved breakthrough on their FH Series fast hole EDMs. Beaumont believes the improvement will lower scrap rates and help decrease the overall production costs of its customers.
Breakthrough detection stops the EDM process at a specific depth after the metering hole is created. Breakthrough detection is used to prevent back striking that damages expensive parts.
Beaumont Machine's new Breakthrough Detection is more accurate because it takes advantage of the processing power of the GE Fanuc 16OI Control. While the original breakthrough detection was accurate, it was a fixed program, unable to be modified for different situations. The new breakthrough detection is now programmable to optimize performance by adjusting its setting to perform the best for each situation, for example, extreme angles to part surface and or multiple diameters and depths.
These situation commonly arise because the Beaumont EDMs were designed for the complicated 5 axis parts in the Aerospace and Land Based Power Generation Industries. Having this new programmable breakthrough detection increases the accuracy and dependability of that detection which reduces costly repairs or scrapping expensive parts.
