Robohand’s DPD Series of Grippers is Ideal for use in Medical Applications to Avoid Contamination
Madison Heights, Michigan, December 6, 2005 — Robohand’s Next Generation Direct Connect Double Wedge Parallel Grippers (DPD series) are ideal for “clean room” applications. With the high standards in the manufacturing of medical parts, using the correct gripper is as important as any other step in the process.
The DPD-E sealed jaw boot is available with scavenge ports for applications where mechanism lubricant could cause contamination by grease exiting the gripper. For applications in hazardous or dirty environments that could cause damage to the gripper, the E sealed jaw boot has a purge port option. It is to the advantage of the gripper to keep the customer’s finger’s weight & inertia to a minimum.
Also, in hazardous or dirty environments, it is recommended to plug all unused mounting hole threads in the jaws as some of these holes are drilled through to the internal mechanism of the gripper allowing particulate ingestion. The jaw’s end holes of the DPD-B bottom jaw option are supplied plugged for this reason.

Robohand Introduces the “B-Series Industrial Parallel Grippers”
Madison Heights, Michigan, October 12, 2005 — Robohand (Monroe, Conn.), a DE-STA-CO company, announces the launch of its new “B-Series Industrial Parallel Grippers.” The “B-Series” grippers are offered in three styles (the BPW, BRP and BPG) and cover a wide range of applications to handle bigger/heavier parts and assemblies.
The first of the “B-Series” are the BPW Parallel Grippers. These feature a wide body that is ideal for handling large and wide parts using long fingers. The jaws are supported through the full length of the body for high moment carrying capacity. They are also sealed against chips or particles, handle high grip forces and offer a non-synchronous option.
Next is the BRP Parallel Grippers, the “heavy duty” series. Their rugged design makes for reliable operation in real life industrial operations. Sealed jaws protect the internal mechanism from chips and coolant in machining applications. Hardened tool steel jaws and support allow for long tooling fingers and high moments and force. The ruggedly designed BRP grippers also offer an optional spring open or close.
The third style, the BPG Parallel Grippers, feature a long stroke and low profile. The BPG Grippers can be used to handle different size parts with the same fingers. The jaws and supports are made of hardened tool steel and the body is made of lightweight hard anodized aluminum.
“Our ‘B-Series Grippers’ were created to address the need for handling bigger and heavier assemblies, as more robots are capable of handling heavier payloads,” said Umesh Cooduvalli, Robohand Product Director, DE-STA-CO.

DE-STA-CO’s Versatile Carver Clamps Well Suited for Tough Welding Applications
Madison Heights, Michigan, October 12, 2005 — DE-STA-CO announces its robust, versatile line of Carver clamps, constructed from low carbon steel with an orange epoxy coating to resist weld spatter and ensure long life.
The clamps are offered in five different styles to quickly, economically, and safely meet a wide variety of manual clamping requirements. DE-STA-CO’s Bar Style and C-Style clamps are particularly well suited for welding applications, though they may also be used to hold workpieces on drill presses, band saws and other machine tools.
The rugged Bar Style clamps are manufactured from high strength steel and are designed for applications requiring large clamping capacities from 1,250 to 6,000 lbs. The jaws may be reversed to provide spreading action, or several jaws may be used on a single bar for fixturing and positive component location and clamping.
Due to its durable frame and movable jaw, DE-STA-CO’s versatile C-Style clamps are more robust than the industry’s standard “C” clamp. Unlike the “C” clamp, work is held securely by two jaws, rather than a single jaw and screw. The clamp’s T-screw is short, shielded and positioned away from the work area, protecting it from weld spatter and debris. Set-up is quick and easy, requiring a simple adjustment of the sliding jaw, and a short manual turn of the tightening screw for maximum grip.
