Starting at under $55,000 (US) the Hurco VM1 Graphite, is a powerful, cost-effective vertical machining center designed specifically for machining graphite, plastics and light metals.
?Many of our mold making customers worldwide tell us they need a cost-effective graphite machine,? states Jim Fabris, Hurco Chief Operating Officer and President. ?We?ve incorporated some quality components and modifications for dust collection into the proven design of the VM1, and the result is an exceptional graphite machine package.?
The VM1 Graphite has travels of 26in x 14in x 18in with spindle speeds from 20,000-30,000 RPM. The spindle uses 30 taper tooling with swing arm ATC. To minimize dust contamination, the metal telescoping way covers have positive airflow. The machine enclosure can accommodate a customer-provided central dust collection system or an optional dust collection system from Hurco. The high-speed spindle is cooled with refrigerated liquid to provide long life and thermal stability.

SR Series: VMX42SR, VMX60SR
The SR 5-axis machines tackle complex, multi-sided parts with a B-axis swivel head and a C-axis rotary table design. The Hurco SR machines include a special version of WinMax® control software that streamlines setup and simplifies programming for complex parts.
-Includes B-axis with table removed, which means access to four axes.
-Heavier digital servo drives, larger ball screws, and larger linear rails increase accuracy and deliver superb surface finish.
U Series: VTXU, VM10U, VMX30U, BX30U
While some brands simply stick a trunnion table on a 3-axis VMC and call it a 5-axis machine, the Hurco U series machines are designed to be true 5-axis machines.
-Exceptional part clearances and larger part capacity due to integrated trunnion table design.
-High capacity table rotates faster and has a high load capacity.
-More standard features than other 5-axis machines.

Hurco celebrated its 40th Anniversary by introducing an unprecedented number of new machines at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago last month. Although IMTS was two days shorter than previous years, overall attendance was up, with 1,900 people checking in at the Hurco booth this year compared to 1,800 at IMTS 2006.
The new 5-axis machines and the large machining centers drew the most attention at the Hurco booth. The VM10U was the spotlight 5-axis machine. It caught the attention of many machinists and owners who had previously considered 5-axis to be too expensive or too complex for their shop. The demonstrations illustrated the significant productivity gains achieved with 5-sided machining and how Hurco control technology simplifies the transition from three axes to five.
In total, Hurco showcased six 5-axis machines and four of those were new to the Hurco lineup?the VMX60SR, BX30U, VMX30U, and the aforementioned VM10U. In addition to the demonstrations at the 31 machines, Hurco conducted one-on-one demonstrations of WinMax®, the software that powers the integrated control on all Hurco machine tools.
?I was particularly impressed with the positive feedback from the people who had never been exposed to our control technology and participated in the WinMax® demonstrations. For me, it confirmed that there is a real thirst for relevant technology that provides measurable productivity benefits. All of us at Hurco take pride in continually developing technology that makes machinists more productive and shop owners more profitable. IMTS was the perfect venue to debut our 14 new machines and numerous technology benefits as we celebrated the 40th anniversary of Hurco,? said Jim Fabris, President and COO of Hurco Companies, Inc.
In addition to 5-axis machines, large machines were popular with customers who visited the Hurco booth. Customers who make parts for the energy sector, such as mining equipment and oil field pumps, were especially interested in the new dual column 2-meterDCX22 machining center. The new VTXZ dual zone machining center generated a great deal of interest from job shops who want the flexibility to expand the size of parts and molds they produce. The VTXZ gives job shops the advantage of flexible manufacturing and increased productivity. As a dual zone machine, the operator can set up in one zone while parts are being cut in the other zone. When the shop gets a job for large structural parts or molds, they can remove the partition and use the full zone (X/Y/Z travels of 80x26x24).
Hurco also introduced five new VM machines, the TMX line of high performance lathes, and two new services scheduled to launch next year: Extended Shop Floor and Hurco Online Tooling. Extended Shop Floor lets shop owners manage their business 24/7 from any location because it is a web based utility. IMTS visitors who watched the demonstration saw firsthand how Hurco technology bridges the gap between the business owner, the machine, and the operator. The benefits of Extended Shop Floor include remote monitoring, remote diagnostics, and remote communication.

INDIANAPOLIS —Hurco Companies, Inc., announced the launch of its biggest vertical machining center ever—the VMX84. With X/Y/Z Axis travels of 84/34/30 inches, this massive machining center broadens the company's product line to meet the needs of customers who produce large parts, molds, and dies. VMX84 customers can choose from spindles speeds of 10K, 12K, or 15K.
All VMX Series machines from Hurco are known for their sturdy construction and exceptional accuracy due to larger ball screws and bigger servo drives. The increased metal removal rates and higher feed rates on the VMX machines decrease part cycle times significantly. Like every Hurco machine, the VMX84 features the most flexible control in the industry.
The flexible Hurco control combined with the newly released WinMax® control software provides the highest level of shop floor flexibility and software productivity for both G-Code and conversational users. Hurco customers using WinMax® will experience measurable process improvements due to 25 new features including Advanced Verification Graphics with 3D solid rendering, dynamic rotation, and real time tool display; Swept Surface; and NC/Conversational Merge. The new WinMax® control software also includes hundreds of enhancements that streamline programming, such as reduced keystrokes, touch screen navigation, an intuitive visual interface, and project management/file naming improvements.

The HTX500 challenges the notion that Hurco machining centers are only for small job shops. These horizontal machining centers routinely match the performance of machines costing twice as much. The unique traveling column provides the speed and precision required for advanced machining processes; but compared to other, typical vertical machining centers with a similar design concept, the HTX500 is capable of much higher contour machining rates with superior surface finishes. Cycle times are reduced via a very fast twin 500mm pallet system. The fully integrated 4-axis capability allows complex production parts to be machined on the HTX500 efficiently and accurately. Equipped with high-speed microprocessors, huge RAM and hard drive memories, the ergonomic Hurco Utlimax® control is the easiest and most flexible control in the industry. Ultimax easily links 2D, 3D and multi-sided machining programs with its CAM and CAD compatibility. The dual screen conveniently displays active graphics and programming simultaneously. The new VTXU is ideal for 5-axis positioning work on complex, multi-sided parts where reductions in setup time and overall part accuracy are crucial. The easy-to-master 5-sided conversational programming requires only one part setup and the machine is compatible with most 5-axis CAM programs. The traveling column provides the speed, precision and power required for advanced machining processes, but compared to other VMCs with a C-frame design concept, the VTXU is capable of much higher contour machining rates with superior surface finish. The VTXU includes many standard features that are typically offered as options on most other vertical machining centers.
