Introducing the Colombo Filippetti VELOMAT series of high-speed, fully-synchronized cam operated assembly machine chassis. At 120 cycles per minute or faster, the cam-operated Velomat chassis assembles parts up to six times faster than comparable pneumatic systems, and it does so with smooth, gentle motions, and at a very affordable price.
But price and cycle times are just the start. It?s also a labor saver. The Velomat is a pre-engineered, modular system that arrives at your door fully assembled. Personnel start adding tooling and fixtures the moment it arrives, saving months of design and machine building time. And for the future, retooling and reprogramming the Velomat for new or modified parts can be done in just days.
Programming time, too, is at a minimum. Pneumatic systems require solenoid valves at each cylinder, as well as proximity switches to read the end of the stroke. In addition, the typical pneumatic machine will have two air cylinders at each station. This, in turn, can lead to complex programming of more than a hundred elements on a typical 12-station machine. Velomat, on the other hand, programs easily with a programmable cam switch and a hand-operated crank that cycles the machine through all stations for easier set-up and debugging. An encoder monitors the table?s and module?s positions. A simple press of the button enters the data. After that, it's plug it in, and start it up.
The Velomat rotary chassis (linear configurations are also available) can be specified with as many as 24 stations, with indexing accuracy of 0.002" in the smaller 6 to 12 station chassis, and 0.003" accuracy in the larger 16 to 24 station chassis. The impressive 22 lb weight capacity of the handling modules, generously long vertical and horizontal strokes, and 38" diameter rotary table are suitable for assembling or packaging a wide variety of items.
Each chassis is equipped with a rugged cam indexer that transforms the rotary input drive into the table's precision indexing motion. The indexing table is supported by large diameter, crossed roller bearings and withstands high radial and axial forces. A hardened globoidal cam is ground to assure superior wear resistance, while pre-loaded cam followers provide high positioning accuracy.
The chassis can be specified with dual, electromechanically synchronized 1-1/2 Hp, 3 phase motors -- one to operate the indexing table, the other to control the handling modules. This array provides greater flexibility in cycle times resulting in improved productivity in most applications. An economical, mechanically synchronized single-motor chassis is also available.
Velomat's handling modules can be positioned at every station in the 6 to 12 station chassis, or at every other station of the 16 to 24 station chassis. Trajectories of the end effectors are available with L-, C- asymmetric C- and rectangular-trajectories, or with horizontal- and vertical-run. Strokes are 2.3" vertically and 5.9" horizontally. Overload protection is available on the vertical strokes.
The Velomat line is available from ITI Automation, Ramsey, NJ.

If you didn't have an opportunity to visit our booth at IMTS last September, you missed an amazing display -- Tool changing so fast nobody could believe we were transferring tools. We had to wrap the two tool holders in different colored tape to prove that sure enough, we were exchanging HSK 63 Tool holders, weighing a little less than 2 lbs. each with an exchange arm 16" in length in 0.6 seconds. Yes 0.6 seconds.
That's fast.
The Colombo Filippetti high-speed and heavy-duty HTC Series of cam-driven exchangers are available in three frame sizes with the largest capable of exchanging two 33 lb. tools with an exchange arm length of 23" in under 3 seconds.
These tool changers are of a modular design, which allows the cam drive box and motor to be mounted in a variety of orientations and located away from the chip zone. They are also available with an extended shaft to attach the exchange arm, making for a compact arrangement, ideal for small and medium-sized high-speed machining centers and transfer lines.

More and more, Job Shops in the Energy, Aerospace and General Machining fields look for greater flexibility to machine large complex piece parts quickly, accurately and more economically.
With the introduction of the ITI / EXACT, MBT series of precision, manual indexing tables, meeting these challenges has now become much easier.
All of our MBT series indexing tables use a precision Hirth Coupling for either 1 degree or 5 degree spacing depending upon customer requirements and all position the work piece to within a radial accuracy of +/- 2 seconds of arc.
Models are available in 5 different frame sizes, with tables ranging from 18" to 48" square and all are prepared with precision combination "T" ~ alignment slots and a center "pilot" bore for rapid and precise fixture locating.
The inexpensive MBT series of tables are completely self contained and only require standard shop air to function. The tables are supplied with removable lifting bars, which enable then to be easily moved on and off a machine as needed or moved from one machine to another for greater utility.
Many users leave the piece part and fixture on the table and move the entire assembly through a variety of machines, eliminating valuable set-up time between operations.
With load carrying capacities ranging from 2,200 lbs. to 13,200 lbs. there's a model suitable for most applications on horizontal boring mills, machining centers, grinding and gear cutting machinery.

Rigidity - Accuracy - Flexibility - Reliability at a fraction of the price = Competitiveness and Profits .
The market offers an inquirer a wide variety of indexing tables to select from. Horizontal or Vertical axis. Hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electric motors are some of the rotation drive choices. Some tables are held in position with a shot pin, some by a cam and roller assembly while others use Hirth rings or a Curvic coupling, both are often referred to as face gears.
The Rotary Indexing Table range from ITI / Exact has been established by taking the features and configurations most frequently requested by machine tool builders and end users alike, then offering them as "Standard" . The fact that we do not offer an extensive variety of basic tables with a multitude of optional features has lead the way to a product range that meets and often exceeds the expectations of our customers and all at a price which allows them to be extremely competitive when building or tooling up a machine tool.
For example: ALL of our automatic indexing tables are designed with a 3 piece "Hirth" coupling which provides rugged locking, accurate positioning and a none-lifting table top, eliminating the contamination issue typical on indexing tables with a lifting table top. ALL of our automatic indexing tables are hydraulically clamped. ALL have sequential feed back switches so the control knows exactly at what stage the table is at during it's cycle. The mode of rotation can be either a hydraulic rack and pinion with built-in pre-engineered and tamperproof cushions or via servomotor drive with a dual lead worm gear which provides minimal backlash for speed and agility.
Whether your next indexing table application is for unit with a horizontal or vertical table top, it's size between 8 and 48" in diameter and you need rigidity, accuracy and precision that can only be achieved with a Hirth Coupling type Table. Contact us, you will be amazed at what we have to offer as "standard" for a fraction of the price that you have been used to paying.

Indexing Technologies Inc.
The ITI-ExactTM MTS, ATS and BTS family of Tailstocks was designed to complement many of our Non-Lifting Indexing and NC Rotary Tables when heavy and/or long piece parts are being machined .
Tailstocks from the MTS and ATS Series are typically used when machining long slender piece parts on a machining center, milling or grinding machine. The MTS models are actuated via an operator rotating the hand wheel until the required pressure is reached, while the ATS has an air or hydraulic cylinder attached, providing more automated operation.
The heavy-duty BTS Series is fitted with a hydraulic distortion-free brake assembly, which is actuated after rotation is completed to ensure maximum rigidity and to accommodate high-cutting loads on the piece parts. This series is also used for heavy loads when several Tables are fabricated together to achieve a two-axis rotary-tilting Table assembly.
