Schwanog's Thread Whirling System was developed for the orthopedic and dental industry to produce bone screws more efficiently. Schwanog's user friendly whirling system consists of one holder and six indexable, custom ground inserts. Each insert carries three coated cutting edges which eliminates the re-sharpening and setting to center height process. Thread whirling is still accomplished in the same manner as before but with this system due to its six inserts the user benefits from increased cutting speed, prolonged tool life and excellent surface finishes on titanium and stainless steel. This new system is easily adaptable to any whirling unit. |

More Productivity Through Reduced Scrap
The market for precision parts in the supply chain for automobile, aerospace and other sectors is mainly characterized by medium- and large-sized batches.
Insertable Form Tool Systems
Schwanog’s tooling systems are designed for the manufacture of precision parts in the medical, automotive and aerospace industries, among others.
Selector System Reduces Scrap
Schwanog will display its Selector System designed to improve random inspection of series parts.
Toolholders Designed for Grooving, Turning
Schwanog’s WSI toolholding system is designed for ID grooving of complex contours, turning, or a combination of both applications.
ID Grooving System Offers Turning Alternative
Schwanog's PWP system is designed for internal grooving applications.
Insertable Form Drilling Systems Increase Efficiency
With Schwanog’s PWP and PWP-D insertable form drilling systems, only the insertable carbide tool is ground and not the entire solid carbide drill, increasing efficiency and cost savings.
Toolholders Enable Grooving, Turning
Schwanog’s WSI toolholding system is designed for ID grooving of complex contours, turning or both, which enables users to reduce unit costs.

Coolant-Through Toolholder
The WSI system consists of a coolant-through holder available in standard diameters, as well as infinite-length-adjustable ID turning inserts designed for optimal stability.
Thread Manufacturing On Bone Screws
Schwanog’s medical technology project report explains the single machining process on Swiss-type lathes using the company’s special whirling systems. It also describes the post-manufacturing process on thread milling and/or thread whirling machines.
Insertable Form Tool System Maximizes Efficiency
Schwanog’s insertable form tool system is suited for complex, turned parts. According to the company, the wear and tear of common form drills increase change-over time, thereby increasing cost.
Video: Form Tools On CNC Lathes
Form tools are traditionally associated with non-CNC machines, but in certain applications they make sense on modern machines as well.
Radial ID Turning
Schwanog says its WPI system facilitates precise and efficient internal plunge cuts for IDs ranging from 8 to 15 mm. Instead of tracing the contour when single-point turning, the geometry is machined simultaneously using a form insert. The system consists of a round shank holder with a coolant-through feature and a ground carbide form insert.
