Material Handling Robot Offers Flexibility for Variety of Applications
The flexible MH80 material handling robot from the Motoman Robotics division of Yaskawa America is suitable for a variety of applications, including dispensing and material cutting, in addition to material handling.

This Ribbon Cutting Was a “Sworded” Affair
Motoman Robotics celebrated the grand opening of its newly completed headquarters in Miamisburg with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by one its dual-arm robots—wielding a traditional samurai sword no less!

Vise Rigidity Boosts Robot Cell Output
To automate the fixturing of round machining center components, Haas uses a custom, robot-tended setup incorporating MoveLock vises from Kurt manufacturing. Thanks to these vises’ rigidity, the machine tool builder has doubled the output of its robot cells compared to previous setups.

Extended Reach Arc-Welding Robot
Motoman’s MA3100 “Master Arc” welding robot features an extended-reach arm that is said to reduce the need for tracks.

Robotics Trade Group Elects Chairman
Dean Elkins, senior general manager of robotics company Motoman (West Carollton, Ohio) has been elected as the new chairman of the Robotic Industries Association (RIA) for 2010.

Dual-Arm Robot Handles Heavy Parts
Motoman’s SDA10D robot is said to provide the reach, payload, speed, performance and flexibility required to perform various assembly, handling, machine tending, packaging and part transfer applications. Both robot arms can work together on one task to double the payload or handle heavy parts, trays or pallets.

Robots Designed To Handle Large Payloads
Versatile, high-speed Motoman ES165D and ES200D handling robots are suited for large-payload machine and press tending applications and various other handling tasks. The robots feature wide work envelopes and high moment-of-inertia ratings coupled with fast axial speeds and accelerations for high-throughput processing, the company says.

Software Gives Offline Programming “Real” Robot Feel
Motoman’s enhanced graphics simulator, MotoSim EG, is available with virtual robot controller (VRC) capability, which is said to provide accurate 3D simulation of robot cells. With VRC, the software operates and displays the actual programming pendant interface for the NX100 controller. The interface display is the same whether a programmer uses a teach pendant on the controller or uses the software on a PC.

Single Controller Manages Four Robots
Motoman’s NX100 robot controller with a Windows CE programming pendant and a color touchscreen is designed to easily handle multiple tasks. High speed processing capability allows it to control as many as four robots for a total of 36 axes (including robots and external axes). It also features I/O devices from a single point of control.

Robotics Provider Names New President
Steve Barhorst has been named the president and chief operating officer of robotics manufacturer Motoman. Mr. Barhorst joined the company as vice president and CFO in August 2000 and became senior vice president and CFO in March 2004. In 2005, he assumed additional responsibility for

7-Axis Robot Saves Space

Always In The Learning Mode
Finding what works is both a guiding principle and a driving force for this machine tool builder.

Rethinking Robot Anatomy
Actuator-based models offer alternative robot designs.

Robotic Laser System Helps Build Better Bikes(2)
Robotic laser cutting system reduces five step manual cutting process to two steps. Immediate benefits of the robotic laser cutting system are cleaner cuts, consistent parts and reduced labor.
