EXOPRO® Mega Muscle Drill Series
OSG is proud to introduce a revolutionary 3-flute coolant-through carbide drill for steels – the EXOPRO® Mega Muscle Drill. It is designed specifically for drilling at feed rates 1.5 to 2 times faster than 2-flute drills. The Mega Muscle Drill may also be used at lower RPMs, which decreases the amount of wear and prolongs tool life. This design also leads to higher hole accuracy with less work hardening, which gives secondary operations such as tapping even more tool life. |

HY-PRO® CARB 3D and 5D Drill Series is now expanded with coolant-through capabilitie
OSG’s brand-new HY-PRO® CARB 3D 5D Drills are an ideal compromise between performance and cost-efficiency. The new design boasts new point and flute geometry that reduce thrust forces and chip size, thereby enabling higher feeds and metal removal rates. The applied multi-layered TiAlN coating resists thermo-cracking from heat, improving wear resistance over conventional coatings. |

OSG Establishes Aerospace Division
Cutting tool manufacturer OSG Tap & Die has established a new division dedicated to aerospace industry manufacturing.
Three-Flute Cutters Enable Faster Drilling
The three-flute, coolant-through Mega Muscle drill is designed specifically for drilling at feed rates 1.5 to 2 times faster than a two-flute drill.
Mold Shop Finds Tool Performance Outweighs Price
This moldmaker sought to reduce costs to compete with low-cost overseas manufacturers. While purchasing relatively expensive, high-performance tools might seem counterintuitive, resulting improvements in cycle time and tool life more than made up the difference.
High Accuracy Thread Gages
OSG offers a series of high-precision, standard thread limit gages designed to inspect the pitch diameter and the functional thread for internally threaded products.
Variable Geometry End Mill
OSG Tap & Die’s HY-PRO CARB VGx variable geometry end mill is designed for chatter-free, high-performance machining of a range of materials.
Carbide End Mills Drills and Routers
The Quality Carbide Tool line from OSG features the VG Variable Geometry end mills; HP Drills 3D & 5D; and Aero Routers for aerospace composites.
Performance Drills for a Variety of Materials
The HY-PRO CARB 3D and 5D drills from OSG feature point and flute geometry designed to reduce thrust forces and chip size, which enables higher feeds and metal removal rates.
Coated End Mills Increase Tool Life
OSG Tap & Die’s Exocarb WXS end mills are designed for milling 54 to 70 HRc at high speeds.
Routers For Milling Composites
OSG’s two Exocarb-Aero routers are designed to mill carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and other composites.
Variable-Design End Mills
OSG’s Exocarb Aero UVX variable index and variable helix end mills couple positive edge geometry with a variable helix design. The end mills can achieve more consistent, chatter-free milling versus common variable-design end mills, the company says.
Coolant-Through Carbide Drills
OSG’s coolant-through carbide drills are available with WD1 coating, which inhibits the wear on the shoulders and margin, or TiAlN coating. Two flute lengths are available: Exocarb-FTO 5D and Exocarb-FTO 3D.
Deep Drilling Without Pecking Or Through-Tool Coolant
These drills enable machine tools to create holes with L:D ratios as high as 20:1 without pecking and without through-the-tool coolant delivery.
High Speed Drills Eliminate Exit Burrs
OSG’s Nexus, part of the Vanadium series of high speed drills, features a 40-degree helix and a sharp, thinning point designed to reduce work hardening, improve finish and eliminate exit burrs. The series features WD1, the company’s latest coating technology for drills. Higher oxidation temperatures, better adhesion strength and elevated hardness allow the drills to run faster without shortening tool life, the company says.
Cobalt HSS Drill For Deep-Hole Drilling
For deep-hole drilling, the company offers the Helios 15D and 20D cobalt HSS drills. The drills can process deep holes without the use of an internal coolant supply and without pecking. The flute design improves chip evacuation, making it feasible to drill as much as 20 × D without pecking.
Ball End Mill with Higher Removal Rates
OSG is proud to introduce the new Blizzard®
Ball End Mill as an addition to their popular Blizzard® line of end mills. Refined
geometry and ultra-smooth flute gullets make the Blizzard® Ball the ideal
choice for rough and finish contouring in Aluminum. In-house testing versus the
competition yielded 45% higher metal removal rates in roughing and superior
finishes when finishing, further reinforcing the Blizzard® name as
the only name in Aluminum machining.
Form Taps Eliminate Chip-Packing
OSG
is forming the future with OSG Form Taps.
Form taps displace the work material rather than removing it, thereby
eliminating the most common cause of tape failure known as chip-packing. Versus cut threads, OSG forming taps produce
smoother and stronger threads at faster speeds.
Hard Milling Made Easy
Hard milling just got easier with the expansion of the WXS®. WXS® is now offered in new sizes: List 4440: (Square, Regular Length, Multiple Flute) Entire new fractional size offering!List 4410: (Ball Nose, Regular Length, 2 Flute) Entire new factional size offering!List 4592: (Rib Processing, Corner Radius, Stub Length, 2 Flute) Entire new metric size offering! Also, the patented nano-technology coating on the WXS® increases productivity and tool life versus TiAIN coating in materials up to 70 HRC. The WXS® coating has a higher oxidation temperature to permit higher spindle speeds, which leads to faster cycle times.
HY-PRO PIPE Taps
OSG is proud to present the new HY-PRO PIPE Taps. The
HY-PRO can be used on a wide range of materials. This new tap has many features and benefits
including; HSSE material for increased wear resistance, eccentric relief for
reduced cutting torque and heat generation, slow spiral for efficient chip
evacuation, interrupted thread for reduced cutting torque, and TiCN coating for
increased surface hardness and wear resistance.
Milling for Wet and Dry Applications
OSG is creating “A Milling Evolution” with the new EXOCARB® - WXL®! The evolutionary, brand-new substrate, geometry, and coating have led to new benchmarks for productivity and tool life. The WXL® is 3x’s more durable in wet and dry applications. Plus the WXL® can handle a wide range of materials with 3x’s greater wear resistance.

Drill Deletes Delamination In CFRP
Composites are becoming increasingly common in aerospace
applications, and machining new materials can be a challenge for shops
used to cutting metal. One such substance, carbon fiber-reinforced
plastic (CFRP), can be difficult to drill because tools often “push”
through the material rather than executing a cle
CAM Software Is The Driving Force
Doug Noxell knew he had the right software for machining to zero, so he created a shop to add the rest of the capability.
The Hard-Milling Imperative
A job shop that specializes in hard milling shows why this technique is becoming indispensable for mold manufacturers. Hard milling allows mold components to be machined in the hardened state, thus skipping several expensive and time-consuming processes such as electrical discharge machining and hand polishing. Hard milling requires a certain type of machining center, tool holding system and programming software. The requirements for each of these elements are explained.
Handle With Care
Micro-size drills and end mills don’t have to be difficult to use.

Thread Mills For Exotic Materials
Bigger Cutters For Small Mills
This cutting tool manufacturer has developed a lighter, more compact face milling cutter that is available in 80-mm, 100-mm and 125-mm diameters for 30-taper machines.
Relieved end mills and pre-machining of corners are two important considerations for accurate pocket machining in hard steel.
