Diaform Wheel Dressers Now Available From
Precision International
The Coborn RG8 is the latest development in a family of successful machines, and takes the capabilities of the PCD and CBN grinders to a new level. It is a floor standing, fully programmable, reciprocating wheelhead, wet grinding machine.
Similar in overall appearance to its highly acclaimed predecessor the RG6, it has six CNC axes as standard which may be moved either independently or in a co-ordinated manner, enabling grinding of more complex tool profiles. The control system and computer are mounted in a stand alone tower system.
Although the RG8 software is entirely new, it retains the look and ‘feel’ of the RG6 software so existing RG6 users may migrate easily. The software runs on a Windows™ platform, and therefore allows multitasking. This enables the operator to write a new program or edit stored programs while the machine is grinding automatically. The software is available in multiple languages. Accuracy is increased, and cycle time reduced. (Compared to the RG6 grinding an identical tool)
Off machine programming is also possible on most office PC’s using the software package included. These programs can then be sent to the RG8 via an Ethernet network connection, or transferred on a USB pen drive. These methods can also be used to back up new tool files written on the machine. For additional security, the control system includes a Raid 1 (mirrored) hard drive array. If one of the drives fails, the system will automatically rebuild itself when the replacement is fitted.
The RG8 uses our latest in-process vision inspection system the VS4, utilising some components which have only just become available to the industry. Measurements are achieved twenty times quicker than the RG6, and the camera resolution has been increased to 1280x1024 pixels. A high quality close-up telecentric lens assembly ensures that all parts of the tool have equal magnification regardless of distance from the lens.
