Video: What Is It Like to Study Manufacturing?
A student project team at a community college illustrates the learning and experience involved in preparing for a manufacturing career.
Students from Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois work on a real-world manufacturing engineering project at the invitation of Clinkenbeard, a contract manufacturing business based nearby. This look at manufacturing education illustrates the kind of knowledge and experience that students pursue in preparation for manufacturing careers. The SME Education Foundation, AMT—the Association For Manufacturing Technology, and Modern Machine Shop collaborated to produce and distribute this video as part of an effort to help educators explain manufacturing careers to young people. The video was sent on DVD, along with a discussion guide, to about 4,800 middle schools and high schools. Filming and video production by Creative Technology Corp.
