American Machinist, brought to you by Penton Publishing, is a monthly magazine dedicated to....well...the American Machinist, of course. Their Web site features an article archive of fine articles, a calendar, and links area.
And it looks like our friends have given themselves a facelift and returned to their original URL -- www.americanmachinist.com -- as well. Their new layout improves upon their earlier incarnation substantially, and they've included Info Centers around technologies, processes and products, including Horizontals, Verticals, Turning, Grinding and more. Registration is no longer required to view certain articles and technical information.

Job Shop Technology
JST magazine is dedicated to the success of the US discrete product manufacturing community (ahem ... that includes YOU, by the way). As part of the Job Shop Network, this site supports that overall strategy with technical articles and their "Post an RFQ" utility that puts buyers of manufacturing services and parts in touch with suppliers of same (uh, that would be you, as well). This is one of the industry's most dependable sources of info for commerce, and well worth you getting familiar with.
Linsay's Technical Books
To call these guys "publishers" or this site "an online book shop" doesn't even begin to do them justice. Lindsay Publications and its various online incarnations offer a wonderful selection of metalworking, technical, engineering and … uh … quirky books that should scratch the itch of just about any machining professional with a thirst for knowledge and a sense of humor. We defy you to visit this site and not come away genuinely liking these folks.
Machining Magazine (formerly Machine Shop Guide)
Machining is the new name of the former Machine Shop Guide. Their Web site contains an article archive (articles are available in PDF format), Latest and Next Issue access, and contact information. Also available is a directory for the metalworking industries (www.emetalworking.com).

Ndx.com is an aggregate site representing many manufacturing-rich vertical markets served by Alabama's Vulcan Publishing. Ndx (iNDustry eXpert, get it?) present a wellspring of technical information for metalworking, fabrication, gear making, and other relevant subjects near and dear to a shop's heart.
This site includes ancillary, supportive sites that serve the whole with technical article archives, suppliers databases, and more.
Plastics Technology
PT is a sister publication of Modern Machine Shop. PT's Web site offers machining professionals a wealth of tool & die making and moldmaking information valuable to any shop dedicated to this work.
Production Technology News (once Metalworking Digest)
Metalworking Digest Online (MDO) is part of the huge Manufacturing Marketplace from Cahners Publishing. MDO offers astute articles on metalworking processes and products, an online database (registration is required to access the database), news, a calendar, and tradeshow information. MDO has recently updated the look and layout of their site, with improved navigability and organization a plus of users. Metalworking Digest Online has a new URL (http://www.metalworkingdigest.com/). Make a note of it.
